Southern West Virginia Comprehensive Treatment Centers are a network of outpatient treatment providers that supply treatment to individuals aged 18 and older who have been struggling with an addiction to opioids. Our medication assisted treatment options are managed by a team of highly qualified and dedicated healthcare professionals. Our centers offer the following medications as a part of our medication assisted treatment program:
Methadone: Methadone is an opioid agonist that is given to avert the cravings and symptoms that can accompany withdrawal. Methadone will not cause the individual to experience a high, which ultimately allows patients to focus on treatment and weaning off of opioids.
Subutex: Subutex is a partial opioid agonist-antagonist that contains buprenorphine as its main active component. By blocking the opioid’s effects within an individual’s brain, patients are able to focus on recovery, while the cravings and symptoms associated with withdrawal are subsided.
Suboxone: Comprised of naloxone and buprenorphine, Suboxone is used to lower withdrawal symptoms, while simultaneously curbing cravings for additional opioids. Unlike other treatment options, Suboxone will produce withdrawal symptoms if a patient attempts to use opioids during medication assisted treatment.
Vivitrol: Vivitrol is an injectable, non-narcotic, non-addictive medication that is used to lessen opioid cravings. Vivitrol uses naltrexone as its main active ingredient and is proven effective and safe for combatting opioid addiction.
Medications and dosages recommended will vary between patients, as these decisions are based on each patient’s individual needs. Medications can be altered during the course of treatment if the requirements of the patient should change.
Southern West Virginia Comprehensive Treatment Centers provides additional treatment options to compliment our medication assisted treatment. Our qualified staff of physicians, nurses, and counselors is dedicated to providing highly individualized treatment and care to every patient that walks through our doors. The following therapeutic services are available at our centers and have greatly aided in the recovery from opioid addiction:
- Individual therapy: These sessions allow patients to openly discuss their treatment, progress, and emotions in a one-on-one setting with a highly qualified counselor.
- Group therapy: Sessions in a group format allow patients the opportunity to come together with other individuals who are struggling with addiction to openly discuss their progress. These counselor-led sessions provide patients a safe environment in which to gain support and encouragement from others who truly understand the process of recovery.
By combining the use of medication assisted treatment with therapeutic interventions, our patients are given the highest quality of care. Southern West Virginia Comprehensive Treatment Centers provides adults struggling with an addiction the skills necessary to break free and enjoy a healthy, happy, and substance-free life.
